October is here, which in my opinion, marks the true foray into Fall! While we at Craft & Oak want to have an international presence, many of our customers are from the United States, so we wanted to write a quick post on all of our favorite Fall traditions, what they are, and how they are traditionally celebrated!
Apple Picking - this is a fun family tradition where you can take your entire family out to an orchard, and pick apples, make apple-related foods such as applesauce, apple pie, spiced apple cider (non-alcoholic), and a whole variety of other apple-related goods await you! I personally am looking forward to picking some apples this year, as it is one of MY personal favorite fruits.
Halloween - everyone loves a good fright! Halloween for the millennial is typically comprised of dressing up in an amazing costume, going out for a night on the town, or going to a friend’s house party for some adult beverages and camaraderie. Perhaps that friend’s house of yours might have a beautiful Craft & Oak print ;). For those of us who have kids, it might mean taking them around the neighborhood to go trick-or-treating.
Football - the NFL season is underway in America, same with College and HS Football. It is a time for tailgates, cheering for your favorite team, and gathering with friends. Either way, when you think of Fall and Football, nothing else seems to go together quite as well.
Thanksgiving - the smell of leaves, crisp air, and turkey… some of the loveliest times of the year are when we gather to see friends and family for the holidays. To connect with them is essential for our human desires for need and belonging. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because it is a time I get to see all my friends that I grew up with that I may not necessarily see as often anymore. It’s a time of catching up, eating, and commemorating. It’s the perfect holiday, and we believe our brand is super connected to this holiday as we are all about bringing people together.
Movember - ladies, you probably hate this movement. Men - you probably love it, unless you can’t grow a mustache. Movember started in a pub in 1999 in South Australia by a few guys with an idea to raise money and awareness for charities. Almost 20 years later, the idea is still around and the Movember Foundation has raised more than $170 million for men’s health causes such as prostate cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention.
For you star enthusiasts, the zodiac signs for the month of October are Libra (until October 22) and Scorpio (from October 23).
